SOME HELP TO DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR SET BEFORE PURCHASE - PRINT OUT THIS PAGE
(a little common mechanical sense helps a lot. Seek help from a friend or neighbor if needed)

Always keep in mind the taper of the walls. The walls of some fireplaces taper a lot more than the average.
Both (A) measurements are the same. Therefore, the burner pan is centered on the floor, placing the valve box closer to the right wall

LOG SET SIZE ON AVERAGE
the "special valve"on the end of the burner extends:
15-inch set
                   extends: 3 1/2 inches past log's end
18-inch set
                   extends: 3 1/2 inches past log's ends
24-inch set
                   extends: 2 1/2 inches past log's ends
30-inch set
extends: 4 inches past log's ends
36-inch set
                   extends: 2 1/2 inches past log's ends
Keep in mind the extra inches repuired, if your set  has a "valve on burner"
Since an 18 inch set is 3 1/2 inches longer because of the additional length
added by the "special valve," you must calculate the additional space required
to center the Pan Burner in the middle of the fireplace floor. (see chart below)

Minimum Sizes of Fireplaces in which Log Sets can be Installed--if with a Valve, see Chart above
SIZE OF SET

FRONT WIDTH

15-inch sets 25" 16"

18-inch sets 28" 18"

34" 18" 20"
30-inch sets 42" 18" 24"
36-inch sets 48" 18" 24"
Knowing the measurements, calculate space between set's ends and fireplace inside walls for enough space. Keep the tapering sides in mind. Some walls taper back fast. Remember the chart above this one, and add the additional inches, if you have ordered a set with
a "burner plus a valve."
The Final Size Determination is Your Responsibilty, but WE WILL HELP, if needed.

HINTS TO MAKE YOUR FINAL SETUP LOOK SUPER GREAT

1.  Spray the fireplace floor wtth "flat" black paint. Let the fumes dissapate and paint dry (flash fire danger).
2.  Also spray the lower part of the side walls an back wall about 6 inches up from the bottom. Let it dry.
3.  After the set is completely installed, spray the gas source pipe and the aluminum connector flat black too.
4.  Spread volcanic cinders and rocks (up to fist size) on the fireplace floor.
5.  Use the cinders and rocks to disguise or hide the valve or end of the burner and the gas-source pipe and connector.
6.  Use your  artistic eye for esthetic placement of rocks. Buy a chunk of feather rock and chop varied sizes. Wear eye protection

7.  If you don't have readily available gravel and rocks, use rough gravel and rocks spray painted flat black.
(have everything on hand and ready before you, or help begins installation)
